The Authoring Environment

WebLOAD IDE is the authoring environment for recording, editing and debugging WebLOAD test scripts.

Novice Friendly

WebLOAD IDE provides a rich visual authoring environment that enables novice users to create a script without any language prerequisites. A proxy recorder captures user actions performed on the actual webpage, which are transformed into a visual tree of high level tasks. Editing the tree can be accomplished using a simple "drag-and-drop" technique, selecting actions from a rich toolbar and dropping them into the visual tree. The toolbar can be extended to customize use of the authoring environment. To simplify debugging, an HTML viewer displays the browser view of the resulting script.

Powerful Authoring for Advanced Users

Advanced users will appreciate WebLOAD IDE's use of JavaScript for its scripting, avoiding the additional complexity of proprietary languages. The use of JavaScript also enables the user to take advantage of the methods, functions, and code segments that may already exist in the application itself. The script view of JavaScript commands is an expanded representation of the visual tree and it can be edited using a rich scripting environment. The authoring environment includes a rich set of data viewers for displaying, HTML source files, headers information and a browser view.

WebLOAD IDE includes a full featured java script debugger which eases the process of debugging test scripts. This includes the ability to step through a test script, evaluate variables, set breakpoints and more.

WebLOAD IDE provides comprehensive support for HTTP and HTTPS protocols, including a powerful proxy based recorder for capturing all HTTP/HTTPS traffic. This recorder may be used with any browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox) as well as any HTTP/S based application that can be configured to route through a proxy.

The information captured by the proxy recorder is used by the IDE framework for generating the test script and visual tree as well as for displaying additional information that facilitates the debugging process.
